In line with the shift in the European Commission's focus from environmental technologies to eco-innovation, the website has been upgraded to better serve the EcoAP community: those specialists and policymakers who are involved in the implementation of the European Union's Eco-Innovation Action Plan and to some extent, the wider eco-innovation community.

Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS), the railway operator in the Netherlands, is improving the environmental performance of 50 of its intercity trains through a retrofitting programme that will be completed in spring 2013.

One of the United Kingdom's best-known high street retailers has said it benefited by £105 million (€134 million) in 2011-12 thanks to a range of eco-innovation and sustainability measures, including the reduction to zero of the proportion of waste it sends to landfill, and the certification of its British and Irish operations as carbon neutral.
